Our Story

History

Founded in 1995 in the coastal town of Veraval, Gujarat, Jinny Marine is situated less than 3 kilometers from India’s largest fishing harbor. The company is managed by the Thomas family, who have over 60 years of experience in the fishing industry.
Jinny Marine Traders was established by Mr. KP Thomas, a marine scientist with experience in the fishery sector dating back to 1962. With over 60 years of experience, Mr. Thomas is a respected pioneer in the seafood industry, known for his extensive knowledge and contributions.He started his career by working with local fishermen, educating and empowering them by teaching them different techniques which include mechanized fishing and the use of nylon nets instead of cotton. Over the span of his career he had earned four lifetime achievement awards for his contributions towards the seafood industry.
Since its inception in 1995, Mr. Kenny Thomas, the eldest son of Mr. KP Thomas, has served as the CEO of Jinny Marine, guiding the company towards new areas of growth. By keeping abreast with the latest market trends and constant innovation, he has built a large client base in various countries across the globe and Jinny Marine’s products have found shelf space in leading supermarkets in Europe and the U.S. He has been instrumental in leading Jinny Marine to become among the most reputed such companies in India. Mr. Benny Thomas, youngest son of Mr. KP Thomas, handles purchases and production and is assisted by a team who have worked in the organization for over 25 years. Our position was achieved and is maintained through the efficiency of our processing activities as well as the importance placed on quality as well as the service provided to our retail and food service customers. Specializing in shrimp and cephalopods, our product range offers various preparations and packaging options tailored to meet the needs of our clientele worldwide.

Products and Quality

At Jinny Marine, we are dedicated to setting the benchmark for industry standards through continual innovation in product development, equipment design, and food safety protocols. The superior and reliable quality of our products is built on quality raw material, transported with care in an undisrupted cold chain, the raw material reaches our purpose designed processing facilities with the state of the art technology and cold storage facilities.

All the stages of processing are supervised by our own highly skilled, permanently employed teams. Extensive and regular training along with seminars ensures that all employees are familiar with operating protocols. We also have a highly skilled team dedicated to quality control, working in a fully equipped microbiological laboratory on site. They constantly monitor the hygiene standards and assess the organoleptic properties of products at every stage of production. Veraval has a long history of fishing and seafood processing, offering us a workforce already accustomed to the stringent requirements of the industry.

Our Achievements

For the past four decades, our company has been exporting to Europe, sourcing products meticulously from artisanal fishermen whose expertise have been passed down through generations. Since then, we have exported approximately 75,000 tonnes of squid throughout Europe. Presently, we dispatch a 40ft container daily, exporting 20 tonnes daily, 600 tonnes monthly, and 6000 tonnes annually.
We have 100 tons/ day freezing capacity and storage of 2000 Mton. Our freezing lines are imported from Spain and Denmark.In 2022, we were the recipients of the award for the second-highest export of cephalopods in India and we are proud to say that approximately 36 million individuals consume seafood from Jinny Marine each year.
Our products are stocked in a variety of supermarkets such as Coop Italy , El Cortes Ingles, Carrefour, Metro, Al Campo, Auchan, Sirena, Picard, and Sysco and are also consumed by prominent food services across Italy, Spain, Portugal, and the USA. Additionally, we export to Canada, Belgium, and France. Jinny Marine stands out for its high standards, having successfully completed audits such as BRC, IFC, BSCI, and Sedx.
